JUST TRY TO GET A NEW RECOIL FOR THE PICE OF Generac 5500 Watt Portable Generator ROCK STAY AWAY FROM WEN JUNK. CALL ANY REPAIR SHOP AND ASK THEM .

mine works just fine

I have an older model of this generator and haven't had any serious problems with it. Exact parts are hard to find but when you realize it has a Honda clone engine in it, Honda parts usually fit. I have replaced the carburetor and recoil start with Honda aftermarket parts.

Easy to assemble. However positive cable connection to "ON" & "off" switch was disconnected. Apparently when I removed one of the supply boxes stash in that area it became loose. I noticed it before starting unit so all went well. I recommend you let the manufacture know about this little mishap to avoid future problems.
